Jehovah-jireh, “the God who provides.”

7.God is Jehovah-jireh. This name means “the God who provides.” Just as He provided yesterday, He will provide tomorrow. He grants deliverance from sin, the oil of joy for the ashes of sorrow, and eternal citizenship in His Kingdom. Genesis 22:9-14 (New International Version)
9 When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!"
"Here I am," he replied.
12 "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."
13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."

When I saw Jehovah-jireh, I thought this would be the easiest of all to write because my God is truly a God of provision; but I had to put it aside twice.
Mark 4 (New International Version)
18Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.

There is so much in the world today that hints, or downright speaks of God’s provision in very materialistic terms. It’s almost if you’re having difficulty there’s something wrong with your prayer life, or you’re not giving enough, or you’re giving to the wrong person group or cause or you just don’t have enough faith..

I wonder how many have been turned away because they felt they just didn’t measure up?

My God has provided me with life; provided me with love; provided me with work to do in the kingdom; provided me with the basics and more. My God is a God of Provision.

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)

Hebrews 4:16 (New International Version)
16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

I approach the throne of grace with confidence. I know God is good. It is my daily goal to avoid getting so caught up in the worries of this life that I lose sight of the glory of God. It is my prayer that the comfort of the Holy Spirit keeps me ever mindful of what matters much, what matters most and what matters not at all. With this knowledge comes understanding of Jehovah-jireh

May God Forever Be a Blessing in Your Life!!!
